インターネットのサイトやお店の店頭で高額な商品によくプレミア〇〇やプレミアム〇〇という文言を見かけると思います。では、プレミアチケットだったり、プレミアム価格とはどんな意味なのでしょうか。
普段からよく耳にするプレミアとプレミアムの違いはなんでしょうか。
まず、英語で表記した場合のプレミアとプレミアムの使い方や意味は違います。
プレミア(premiere)は、「(演劇などの)初日や初演、映画の特別封切、最初の、主要な」という意味をもちます。
一方、プレミアム(premium)は、「特別賞与、割増金、奨励金、保険の掛け金、保険金」などの意味があります。また、プレミアム(premium)には、「商品の品質が良い、高級な、上質な」という意味としても使われます。
このように、英語の場合はプレミアとプレミアムの意味や使い分け方がはっきりと異なるのですが、実はカタカナ語としてお店の商品などの売り出し文章や広告につかわれる時のプレミアやプレミアムは、意味が同じものとして使われる場合が多いです。
簡単にいうと、プレミアはプレミアムの略称とされています。
なので、『プレミアム(プレミア)チケット』であれば、「人気が凄くて定価よりも高い買取相場で取引されるほど貴重なチケット」ということがわかります。
また、商品が『プレミアム(プレミア)価格』とされている場合は、その商品が販売された時の値段よりも価値があがり高く買取されていることがわかります。
有名なブランドやコレクターが多い商品で、販売商品数が限定されていたり、販売された地域が限定されていたりと特別感があるとプレミアム(プレミア)がつくことが多いです。
つまり、プレミアム(プレミア)がついた商品とは、「とても人気があって高値がつく商品」、「コレクターが特別視する商品」などと判断するのがわかりやすいでしょう。
ですから、人気のあるプレミアム商品を購入した場合は、売りたい時に高く買い取りしてもらえる傾向があります。そういったことからも、売ることを前提に価値があがるとわかっている商品を購入し資産の一つとしてプレミアム商品を手元におく方も増えています。
